Welcome to the 18th season of the Wisconsin Publishers. Production Club. It's been quite an odyssey, from our first meeting in November of 1990 at Krause Publications in Iola, WI with fewer than 20 people in attendance, to our current dynamic meetings with 60 or 70 people participating in the audience. We're proud to report that each successive year is better than the last.
This year will continue that success. We have even added a meeting to our schedule in May, 2008, because there were just so many topics we wanted to cover. This season there will be four regular meetings plus a special event in March. We're starting with a power meeting called "Going Postal!" about the new postal rate structures and what you can do to optimize your best rates. That meeting will be followed by our annual "Production Technology Update" in November; then "Digital Editions for Publishers" in January; and a color management session in May.
Next March we will hold a major networking event at the Country Springs Hotel. Same great hor d'oeuvres, same late afternoon into evening time slot, same door prizes – but no exhibitors. This one will be all about getting together with friends and colleagues and having a great time.
The WPPC Board evolved over the Summer. We lost long-time Board contributers Karen Kubiak and Sharon Bennett, which is good news for them because they're both successful in their chosen fields. We wish them both the best. We added four new members to the Board: Joel Barton of GroupE Communications, Erica Conway from C2 Graphics Productivity Solutions, Cheryl LeSage of Journal-Sentinel Direct and Gretchen Trautman of Reiman Media. We know you'll join us in welcoming these individuals at one of the great meetings they helped to plan.
