Welcome to a very exciting milestone year for the Wisconsin Publishers’ Production Club, as we celebrate our 20th year of successful programs. We are making some important changes this year, and we hope you approve. The biggest of those is the elimination of our membership program. Given the current economy, we recognize how difficult it is to get corporate approval for membership fees.
One of the benefits of membership was always a discount on the admission charge for the meetings. That will remain. Provided you pre-register and pay online, the meeting rate will be $40. If you walk in and pay at the door, the price will be $60. Still a great deal, given the content we provide.
Please join me in welcoming Russell Grimes, Associate Director of Magazine Production for Reader’s Digest Association to the WPPC Board. Rusty has quite a bit of experience based on his involvement with the MMPA (Minnesota Magazine Publishers Association).
Erica Conway, Cheryl LeSage, Dean Flowers and Dennis Redman have stepped down from the Board. We thank them for their service and wish them well.
On this year’s schedule, we will start with a few technology meetings: the first two are our annual Production Technology Update broken into two parts: On Your Desktop and In the Pressroom. The third will explore technologies being used by Audience Development professionals, such as search engine optimization and social media marketing.
In March, our Publishing Vendor Expo returns by popular demand, and in May we will tour Quad/Graphics’ West Allis facility and the co-mailing operation in Sussex, WI.
We look forward to welcoming you in person at one or more of these meetings.
