JOE MUEHLBACH, Corporate Director of Facilities & Environmental Policy

As Corporate Director of Facilities & Environmental Policy, Joe is an officer of the company and is responsible for multiple departments and operating areas. With regard to facilities management, Joe oversees plant and automation engineering; energy management; building maintenance; grounds keeping; plant services; construction; safety; security; and cuisine and vending. As far as environmental policy, Joe oversees environmental performance, including regulatory filings, and serves as the central communications point for employees, clients and other interested parties on our environmental practices.

Joe's career at Quad/Graphics began on April 15, 1985, as a Facilities Engineer. Four years later he began overseeing Quad/Construction, and then in 1991 became Department Manager for all of Facilities when 12 different operational departments were merged into one operating unit. Joe was promoted to Corporate Director of Facilities and became an officer of the company in 2002. He added Environmental Policy to his title in 2008 to better reflect the scope of his responsibilities.

Joe studied mechanical technology at Milwaukee School of Engineering and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where he attended the School of Business. Currently, he is a member of the Industrial Advisory Board for UWM's School of Engineering.

In addition, Joe serves on the Direct Marketing Association's Committee on Environment & Social Responsibility, the United States Postal Service “Greening the Mail” task force, the State of Wisconsin’s Global Warming task force and is board member on numerous energy coalitions that promote reliable, renewable and low-cost energy options for industry, including Wisconsin Industrial Energy Group (WIEG) where he is Chairman; Oklahoma Industrial Energy Customers (OIEC).

Joe makes his home in Sussex with his wife, Mimi. They have two grown daughters, Amy and Megan.
